"Baking is an act of love
|
Hi there!
Thank you for taking the time to check out my website. I started baking since 1995 (or possibly earlier. Forgive my forgetfulness. I might have “burnt” a few brain cells besides some creations along the way) In the beginning I was intrigued that mixing a few simple ingredients could produce such delicious results. I was also captivated by the fact that baking is more than combining different ingredients to produce something yummy. It is an act of love that's edible. The smiles and satisfaction of those who tasted my creations are the reasons why my romance with baking will never end. I recall in secondary school; I sold my homemade cupcakes to my classmates during recess. I was heartened that the goodies got sold out each time because they loved eating them. This further fuelled my passion for baking. Subsequently, school and work left me little time to further my skills. It was when my husband and I opened our salon, Project Hair that I could dedicate more time to hone my skills. As I love baking, I thought why not pamper the customers with my homemade treats when they come for hair services. Next, we opened Project Nails and this definitely kept my oven very busy. At times I even baked way past midnight just to keep up. My hobby turned into an addiction. Yes, my back would ache, eyelids would be heavy but the delight on the customers’ faces make it all worthwhile. I appreciate every opportunity that I have to push myself to the limit and ignite my creativity to wow them. I asked myself if there is a job that I could do all my life and never get tired of it, what would it be? My heart answered “baking” without hesitation. That’s how serious I am about it. There’s a saying, “if you do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. I know one day my eyesight will fail, my hands will not be as nimble, my dexterity will deteriorate and my taste buds less sensitive. Therefore, for now I look forward to every opportunity that allows me to be better at my craft. My dream is to keep learning and eventually open a full-fledged bakery. Join me in my culinary journey as I bake the world a better place. |
